statement on safety at rez

At Resurrection Anglican Church, we acknowledge and rejoice in the inherent dignity that God has granted every person He has made. We also acknowledge and lament the pressing reality of sin in our world, in our churches, and in our own lives. Our commitment at Rez is to uphold the dignity of every person who walks through our doors, and to diligently guard against abuse of any kind.

We believe that a culture of safety, where all are able to experience church as a place of refuge, is the work of the whole congregation. This work is undergirded by strong structures and clear processes, which are overseen by our staff, Vestry, and Rector.

SAFETY FOR CHILDREN & YOUTH

All volunteer workers with Children & Youth are background checked, well-versed in our diocese’s policies for safety and reporting, and trained by MinistrySafe to recognize signs of abuse and predatorial tactics. SAFEGUARDING TEAM

Rez’s Safeguarding Team functions as an Advisory Team to the Vestry. This team of individuals exists to ensure that safety standards are clear in our ministry spaces, as well as to provide a safe space for anyone to report allegations of abuse or misconduct by a Rez leader (ministry lead, staff, or clergy). The Safeguarding Team advises the Vestry and Rector in response to allegations of abuse, in addition to ensuring that all necessary reporting processes are being followed.
